Techniques
There are many different forms of
massage therapy and they all have individual techniques. In order to
learn the techniques of massage, you should attend a school where
you learn the proper way to do them all. In the process you will
learn about the different types of the therapy and chances are you
will discover a favorite. It will take time and practice to master
the techniques and this is necessary to become good at the
treatment.
Some of the techniques you might want to learn about are:
Active Release
This technique is used to treat a wide variety of soft-tissue and
repetitive motion injuries. Through the use of the hands, the
therapist will explore the body to determine the texture and
tightness of the muscles testing the range of motion. When he/she
discovers a constriction, the therapist will then work to relieve
the surrounding tissues of any adhesions and allow for blood to flow
freely.
La Stone
La Stone Massage consists of laying hot and cold stones on specific
parts of the body. This helps to relieve any stiffness or soreness
and to restore energy to the affected muscles. Along with the
stones, the therapist will use hand techniques to stimulate the body
to release harmful toxins.
Massage for babies
Babies can really benefit from soft nurturing touches. It is best if
one or both of the parents perform this, but you can learn how to do
it from a registered massage therapist. The mother/father starts by
rubbing the baby's belly in soft circular movements, moving to the
back and the limbs. This is really effective after a bath and at
bedtime to relax the baby and help him/her to sleep.
