Massage

The most common method of massaging the muscles of the body is to have the patient lie of a bed. However, massage can also be done in a chair. It is also known as On-Site or Seated therapy. It is not intended as a treatment, but is more for relaxation purposes. It is quite common for many business to offer this therapy to their employees during the day or after working hours, such as on breaks or at lunch time.

Even in the traditional form of therapy, biodynamic treatment works across a wide variety of muscles. It consists of connective tissue work, deep tissue work and gentle relaxation techniques. The premise is that energy moves through the body in cycles. When these cycles are interrupted or constricted then the body feels pain. The therapist aims to free these constrictions and allow the energy to flow freely once more.

Three are four movements used by therapists who work with biodynamic treatment:
* Sympathetic Nervous system - 1. contraction/change and 2. expression/action
* Parasympathetic Nervous System - 3. winding down and 4. relaxation/expansion
The techniques involve not only basic touch, but there is also lifting, stretching, packing draining and working on the connective tissues. Each patient receives the treatment that he/she needs in order to feel better, so there is no one size fits all technique. This is why the therapist always does a needs assessment before proceeding with any therapy.

Three are many harmful toxins that accumulate in the muscles of the body. These can add to the feeling of being ill. Through treatments, therapists help the body get rid of these wastes. It stimulates the colon, the liver and the kidneys and they start to eliminate the build up of wastes. It is also beneficial in helping with oxygen transmission through the body.
